Hi

I have been busy latly because im finishing my bachelor degree and now i
have no idea whats going on with development of tools for yoper.

I thought Tobias, Chaks and Jurgen was making YIS with all tools needed
for yoper installation and configuration.

Yes, we are working on YIS. At present there seems to be a confusion with YIS and YoperConf. Now both are integrated as a single application like YaST.This page should help you to understand,
http://www.yoper.com/wiki/index.php?title=YIS:General_Conventions
Its just that we should not start 2 projects with same goal, then there would be problems arising out of it in Integration and Usage.

I also think there is some language problems , no worries,we will be in sync very soon.

I have also attached the initial Yoper Installer specification document which i mailed to YIS team (hope, you should have got a copy already). If you go thru the document, you should be clear about YIS and YoperConf confusion.

And if Yoperians remember, we did start off with a New YoperConf tool earlier http://www.yoper.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7411&hl=new+yoperconf
And my design is here, http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d74/chaks_2k/YoperConf/
The link in the forum for screenshots does not work.Use above link.

And later, it was seen that YoperConf is not a single tool and we need to integrate in the Yoper Installer. Both YIS CLI and YIS GUI will be using some common tools for configuring the system. Please remember that YIS is not just GUI, it includes CLI also.

I also had seen from the IRC log that, there was a discussion on "many projects, many solutions", but having 2 projects running parallelly with same goal will lead to confusion IMO.

Please do not think am offending, after a series of dicussion with YIS team, we came up with this idea. If this idea is going to be changed, we would have another discussion in the forthcoming IRC meet and come to consensus decision.

Then i think i heard walter was making some script(might have been someone
else).
Then i bigredradio was talking about some kudzu replacement.
And now Jurgen has started with Yoperconf.

Yoper Tools is a good project initiated by Walter as this corresponds with configuring the essential things for the current releases.Sure, we will find a way to use it in YoperConf.

Can anyone enlighten me?
In two weeks im done with my bachelor and ready to help out, but when
things are this unorganized its impossible to know where my help is needed.

Well, once you complete with your bachelor, you are going to have a big time with YIS :)....just kidding...

David (bigredradio) is also working in some areas which are really helpful and again they correspond to YoperConf...

Sorry for creating a confusion with YIS and YoperConf...if am not clear, please ping me...

cheers Pettern
