Hi all, I have submitted a package into rocketfuel called xdg-utils.
If you have any packages that require desktop integration please use these tools. They come with excellent man-pages and are easy to use. They will go a long way toward fixing issues we have had with menu integration etc and meeting the fd.o desktop standards.
