As I've just been ranting about updating for the sake of updating I'd like to get some feedback. I wanted to updated vlc from the current 0.9.x snapshot to the official 0.9.1 release. Apparently this needs a newer ffmpeg version. This newer ffmpeg version in return needs make >= 3.81 . Does anyone know of any negative side effects for this upgrade or should I postpone this particular upgrade in rocketfuel and maintain it in my branch. VLC is 'THE' media player for me these days.
