Hi Will,
Hi Kristian,
meanwhile I have hopefully sorted out most synchronisation problems,
and I can now generate a sequence of test notes and dump them out into
a RAW file.

I've made a confusing discovery concerning randomisation. Doing a reseed
works quite correctly, and then making a number of test calls afterwards
gives exact repeatable results. However, using this then playing a
complex sound such as Overdrive makes virtually no difference to the
sound at all!

is the very first note already random? even after a reseed under controlled
conditions? i.e. nothing else is going on and the reseed happens right
before processing the first buffer?

and not sounding but with Overdrive
selected. Then, either via a script or manually, send the reseed immediately
followed by a note on and a few seconds later a note off.
With my test code I can now observe similar behaviour.
And what puzzles me most: Some of the more complex presets were completely
reproducible on my previous test, then using an Ardour + Jack-Session setup.
Thus I've got a good starting point now to drill down
and investigate in detail what is going on here.
