David Runge has come to the rescue! There has been a change in cmake, and he's been good enough to provide the fix for it. However, this presents another dilemma. I stopped using 'testing' versions of debian because i was inadvertently including things that weren't available in release ones - I wasn't expecting problems the other way round. It seems I'm going to have to set up another computer so I can check both :(
