Try this... Create a custom view in the calendar view to show mail older than one year. There are several choices like Date created, date modified etc. You can then select all and delete them, or be more specific and delete just the problem events. FYI...items are stored for syncing in a database called the Truth. If this database contains corrupted data then it will just re-sync populating the bad data over and over.
