the problem is that most people turn off the 'ask to save on closing'
and let events, tasks etc save automatically.
If you modify the task toolbar o include the delete button, you can
delete a half-created task.

Has anyone noticed or reported that you can't seem to cancel the

Once you start down the path of creating a task, it appears that
there's no
going back. The only way to remove it is to complete it (even
partially) and
then go to the task list and delete it.
You'd think the escape key would do this, but it doesn't.
Entourage 2008 really morphed into a less-is-more application or
maybe more
appropriately a reduced-clutter application. The developers wisely or
unwisely thought end users would grok the changes but lot of folks are
looking for old buttons and/or features.
Philosophy aside...
In the case of Tasks or most any other item in Entourage, if you
don't want
it then simply close it and don't save it.
An Escape to cancel would be a handy shortcut, though.
