I'm a bit confused still over why you purchased old software for a new Mac.
Entourage X import was designed before the current Apple Mail's setup, so it has no way to automatically import. You will need to manually move your mail over to Entourage X if that's what you want to use. I've never used Mail so don't know exactly what it's options are now. If you can export as MBOX that would be the best option. Usually dragging contacts to the desktop creates .vcf files that you can drag into Entourage.
