Hi Bob! My comments are inline with your questions.
> 1.) Do I need them or can I just delete them?
That depends on whether or not you need to search for messages and within
messages within Entourage.
> 2.) Is their a special folder or location where they are all stored?
Yes, you've discovered it. These are cache files. Cache files are created by
applications usually to speed up a process. In this case, these cache files
are created to aid with searching in Entourage using Apple's Spotlight
search technology.
> 3.) Is this the same as the Metadata folder I found in the Library Folder?
You should have found these files in your home folder in
~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft
> 4.) If I delete them will they continue to be created and stored when I send
> or receive new messages?
Only if you have searches enabled in Entourage under Entourage menu -->
Preferences... --> General Preferences --> Spotlight.
> 5.) If so, is there a place where I can turn them off so they won¹t be

See #4.
> 7.) Are the Microsoft Entourage Message Pointer files the same thing as the
> vRge files?
Not sure what you mean by "Microsoft Entourage Message Pointer files". The
vRge files found in the location I mentioned above are necessary for quick
searches within messages in Entourage.
Hope this helps!
