I assumed that was not the issue, because the Remove Office tool found 2 installations (one on my normal boot drive, the other in the mirrored location on the clone boot volume). The recursive "you need to run the tool from the user account that created the installation" dialog (I'm paraphrasing) didn't identify what it wasn't removing. Having read your message I went back to see if I could run it again and limit the removal attempt to my "real" installation on my usual boot volume, and Office 2004 wasn't there! The installation on the clone will take care of itself when SuperDuper does its next automated clone of my boot volume tonight. Thanks for letting me know what happened. I do think the error reporting of the tool could be a bit more informative; it didn't report it had accomplished one removal but didn't do the other.
