Happiness is the Microsoft Database Utility did a successful rebuild and my Entourage Database and it has been working great. In response to the success story, Diane suggested I should consider creating new identity as a backup using the Export to Entourage archive in .rge format.
I used the MVPS File/Export tip at <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/import_export/index.html> to create an Entourage archive file in .rge format on my desktop. The export only took a few seconds. I then turned my Air Port OFF so there would be no new incoming mail while I was playing around in a new identity. I created a new identity called Backup 16-Sep-2010 and used the Import command to bring in my mail from the .rge file on the desktop. The Import worked great; however, I run into problems when I tried to copy the imported folders to the standard Entourage folders and delete the empty folders. No problem copying files to the Inbox, Drafts and Junk E-mail but Entourage hung big-time when I tried to copy the Sent Items (import) to the Entourage Sent Items. I could use some help on the correct way to copy Sent Items (import) to the Entourage Sent Items folder. The steps I used was to open the Sent Items (import) folder, selected one item, used the Select All so I could to drag all files to the Entourage Sent Items folder. The selected messages did not copy and when I clicked on the the OS X Activity Monitor it showed Microsoft Entourage (Not Responding) what I call hung and sucking up 100% of the CPU time. I have an Intel iMac with 4 GB of memory. Does someone know of a better way to move .rge imported files to the correct Entourage folder? I must be doing something wrong. My guess is using the Select All got me in trouble and maybe I should have tired to copy in smaller bites.
