I have 191 GB free disk and 442 MB (of 3,75 GB) memory. So that should be enough.
I tested with creating a new user and setting up the exchange-account anew. Problem persisted. Although I find the time Entourage needs to sync the calendar surprisingly long. I have 4000 events in my calendar (about 7000kB) and this takes several minutes longer than all of my mail-folders which are four times as big. That's also why I'm slowly beginning to suspect a problematic/corrupted event to be the culprit. Today I deleted all events from the calendar "on my computer", which has been working quite normally up to now (as far as I remember) and then copied all events from my exchange-account. The plan was to then delete all the events from the exchange-account, maybe clear the cache, maybe wait 1, 2 days until everything is deleted from the exchange-server and then to copy all events back to the exchange-calendar. But what happened? The calendar on my computer started showing the same symptoms. You switch to the next month and the database daemon shoots up to 99 % CPU and everything takes long seconds. I checked all events that I remember creating around the time the problem started but they all seem perfectly normal. So the next thing I will try is to delete all events from the last four months and see what happens then. And then I will do the same on the old MacBook: Clear the calendar on the desktop, copy all events from exchange there, wait a bit and copy them back from the desktop to Exchange. Has anybody ever heard of corrupted events? Or are there any things/characters/?? that one is not allowed to use in an Entourage-event? I usually just use plain characters and maybe one little @ or ® but apart from that: as normal as can be.
