[Note: this is strictly my opinion.] We really need to take articles like this with a grain of salt. First, Microsoft didn¹t ³forget² anything. They had several products that needed patching and they patched the ones that were ³critical², which were Office 2007 and 2010. They also patched two versions of Office listed as ³important², which were Office 2003 and 2011 (Mac). Office 2004 and 2008 for Mac are also listed as ³important². I¹d love to see an explanation of ³critical² vs. ³important² but I can¹t find one. If I had to take a guess as what these two terms mean in the context of this bulletin then I¹d say ³critical² means it can happens and ³important² means the vulnerability is there but not the possibility of exploiting the vulnerability. Coming from a technical background, I know that very little code can be executed on a Mac that can be executed on Windows. The probable reason that Microsoft isn¹t jumping through hoops to patch all the Mac versions right away is that 1) it¹s a small subset of users compared to their Windows base and 2) the code probably can¹t run on a Mac and therefore isn¹t really a vulnerability. -- William Smith -- YouTalk mailing list List information: http://www.entourage.mvps.org/support_options/list.html List moderator: [email protected], [email protected] To unsubscribe: mailto:[email protected]?subject=unsubscribe
