Hello. This is my first post. Hoping someone here can lend me a hand. I am
trying to compile/install yum on AIX. After installing many of the gnu
utilities(gcc, db, zlib, coreutils, etc) I think i'm pretty close.

I have python 2.5.2, rpm-3.0.5, and gettext-0.10 installed on ppc AIX6.1 host.

during the make, I do get a WARNING message that my version of gettext does not
support extracting non-ASCII strings, but I don't think this is the culprit.

I have tried compiling both yum versions 3.2.13 and 3.2.29, but both error with
the same message "No module name rpm" when trying to run the yum binary.
Google
hasn't yielded much info. Below is a rpm -qa showing all of the gnu packages
installed on my host.

[root@nimclient opt]# yum
There was a problem importing one of the Python modules
required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was:

   No module named rpm

Please install a package which provides this module, or
verify that the module is installed correctly.

It's possible that the above module doesn't match the
current version of Python, which is:
2.5.2 (r252:60911, Mar 12 2009, 09:05:38) [C]

If you cannot solve this problem yourself, please go to
the yum faq at:
