Many killed by Baghdad car bomb
At least 22 people have been killed in a car bomb attack in a Shia district of
Baghdad, security officials have said.
Women and children were reportedly among the dead in the blast, near a bus
station in the Kadhimiya district. At least 54 others were injured.
The US military said the attack took place around noon (0900 GMT).
Correspondents say the area targeted in the attack is on the way to a major
Shia mosque, where crowds often gather on Saturdays.
There has been a decrease in violence in Iraq in recent months, but attacks
still occur regularly in Baghdad and other cities.
Ten days ago, 18 people were killed and dozens wounded in a twin bomb attack in
Baghdad's Munstansariyah district, close to a police station and a hospital.
Police were among the dead.
