Tuesday 24 March 2009 (28 Rabi` al-Awwal 1430) 6,000 HIV carriers in Jeddah alone Saleh Al-Shihi I Al-Watan RIYADH: During his daylong visit to the Kingdom on Sunday, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner visited the governmental Human Rights Commission (HRC). Bandar Al-Aiban, the head of the HRC, received Kouchner and briefed him about the organization's mandate and the human rights situation in the Kingdom. Kouchner commended the Kingdom's efforts in various fields and recognized the great role played by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah in pushing forward reform plans. The two parties discussed many issues of mutual interest. Al-Aiban expressed his appreciation of the visit, and pointed out the HRC's role in spreading the culture of human rights through cooperating with various government bodies. He stressed the Kingdom's commitment to all international conventions related to human rights
