Influential BBC DJ and radio presenter John Peel
dies at the age of 65 after suffering a heart attack while on a working
holiday in Peru. http://media.guardian.co.uk/site/story/0,14173,1336385,00.html?=rss To those of us in the UK, John Peel was probably the most important music presenter .....EVER He was more than a DJ... If it wasn't for him there are so many musicians and groups that would not have had the exposure or the success that they did. The Undertones, The Clash, U2... the list is endless.... He was a great champion of Captain Beefheart when he was little known. If it wasn't for John, my record collection and appreciation would not be as varied as it is.
