Going to Shannon Ratigan who was first. Look
for him to reoffer soon. By the way these 5 VCD's are made with some new
software I got. No menu screens but the 2 discs I made my self are very
clear high quality. As good as the Dub Room set if not better.
Also at this point I'm totally confused when
it comes to late show and early show. The first set is from number 3
in the list below (116 minutes). The second set is the MTV
broadcast.

In fact this is the show that *was* broadcast on MTV, with a
couple of substitutions from the other show that night, and all edited by FZ.
Main thing missing is Sinister Footwear. And no interview with Nina Blackwood,
of course.
Not to be confused with You Are What You Is, which is also
edited from both shows and which adds Whippin' Post at the end, the only song
not also appearing here.
Frank never released an uncut show on video, but
this is about as close as he came.
The original videotape, released
briefly by LBS (Lexington Broadcast Services) by mail only, had linear stereo
tracks (remember those?) which pre-dated Hi-Fi Stereo which wasn't widely
available in those primitive days of 1981. It's long out of print, so there
shouldn't be a problem with the legal status of this torrent.
I've been a little confused about the late show vs. early show thing.
I could see some similarities in the play list from MTV and the VCD version of
this show and so thought this was just the early show. It is a full 1h55min tape
as opposed to this one. I think it would be number 3 on the list below.
1. "Halloween Concert" (MTV, 88 min.) 2nd
show, missing band introduction and Sinister Footwear 3rd
rebroadcast by MTV, air date 10/31/82 2. "Dumb All Over" (LBS Video
47 min.) Mixed footage of 1st & 2nd shows 3. "The
Torture Never Stops" (LBS Video, 116 min.) Mixed footage
of 1st & 2nd shows 4. "You Are What You Is" (LBS Video, 58
min.) Mixed footage of 1st & 2nd shows 5. "You Are What
You Is" (Night Flight, 28 min.) The first 7 songs of the
early show http://globalia.net/donlope/fz/videography/Halloween81.html So
I guess your right. Here's the tape I barrowed to make the DVD.

to a vine near you - 5 disc Video Vine
There will be a slight delay in the
start of this vine. I had planed on announcing it today and taking the first
caller. It's going to be a five disc vine. Two discs for the early show
Halloween (31 Oct 81, Palladium, NYC TTNS), two disks for the late show on
the same day as broadcast by MTV and a fifth disc that will contain some
obscure television appearances that I just obtained this week.
The delay is caused by my personal
dissatisfaction with the audio quality (no bass) on the early show mpeg
files. The video quality isn't the best ether though not bad. Ordinarily I'd
be thrilled to have them just the same but I now have a chance to do better.
I got myself a good capture card for xmas and I've been learning how to use
it. One of our members is making an original tape available to me. I just
can't send these two discs out with the chance that in a few days I can have
a better set to offer. The video quality isn't all that great on the late
show ether but the sound is very good. Besides it's really about the music
and I'd rather have a blotchy picture to go with the music than just the
music alone or a good picture and poor audio quality on the music. The
second disc/file from the late show seems to have a less blotchy picture
than the first as well and both have great sound. Look for the initial offer
coming up just day's from now if all goes well.

Is that a film he made, or is it a live
show?
-A film (well, video.. I doubt it was committed to *film*, per se) of
a live show, yes. Namely the early show on Halloween 1981 (the late show
was broadcast live on MTV--their first such live broadcast--and over the
radio)
