So I think
I’m understanding this better now. The original question on this thread
was about video conversion. Then John asked about the data CD format for Mac /
PC. So anyway I think the key here is the Joliet format or UDF102 with a Joliet
bridge. One of these 2 formats used to create the data disc on a PC should make
it compatible. My software can do both as well as an ISO 9660 format. The last
one can’t add a Joliet Bridge however. I’m guessing John asked
about this with concept of vine in mind. In other words if we do a vine of flac
or ape files it just wouldn’t be good if a Mac couldn’t read the
data disc containing the files. I’d never considered this angle before.
After a
little more homework I realized what your talking about is the format of the
disc itself. This might be of some help.

Yes, dB Power amp music converter has just about every codec
imaginable. Failing that a program called Audacity will...Put those two names
into a search engine, they are both free!

Like Cris
said TMPGEnc’s video editor can probably do it They also make the best
DVD authoring software I’ve seen so far with a free full featured try
out. There are a bunch of other products available as well. This website is
like the oracle of all video knowledge.

This one does most of those jobs.
Have a look at the FAQs for further info.

does anyone know of any free software a guy can download that will convert MPEG, AVI, Windows media and so on, into
VCD/DVD or any other format that is playable on domestic DVD players? A
facility to swap between NTSC and PAL formats might be good too, but maybe I am
asking a little much there.
