Subject: [Zappa-List] New Vine Open:Instant Bootleg Collection Vol. 1 &
Vol. 2

I've been getting so much stuff from Zappateers and Dime-A-Dozen
lately that I decided to share the wealth. Instant Bootleg
Collection Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 are 2 dvds packed with various shows with
varying years/lineups in flac format. I have 8 volumes in the can
and will get them out as time permits. I hope you guys like them.
All notes following are from the original text docs...

   Lineage: SBD->?->CDR->EAC->SoundForge (retracking)->FLAC Frontend

The SBD is used up through 8:58 into Pound For A Brown, from there
on it's from an Aud tape of unknown generation, with a whole lot of
compression on it. Throughout the board recording, the levels are
very high, and clipped peaks are in abundance. Strangely enough, I'm
not sure this has harmed the sound quality, which is among the best
you'll ever hear on a Zappa boot. This version doesn't have any of
the problems that previously circulating copies had.

This is a show I had lying around on my HD, and since it sounds so
good, and I don't think it's that common, I decided to seed it. The
concert itself is not that remarkable, mainly because Frank only
plays 4 solos, one of which is only 38 seconds long. I've heard that
FZ was sick for Halloween this year, maybe that's one reason.
Nevertheless, I think this recording presents great versions of the
YAWYI material, played with a lot of energy. Enjoy!

   Q&C notes

I've listen to this show many times but I was not able to detect the
   tape flip!

Cuts are before the two encores.

I kept the cds original tracking except that I removed the fade-
   in/fade-out
beetween Stevie's Spanking and Cocaine Decisions and I've separated
audience from Bobby Brown in the first encore.

Sounds a little dry to me, expecially in some parts,
but you can get very good results (B+) with some EQ on your playback
   system.

Strange changes in sound are there near the end of Easy Meat, at
   6:25,
at the very end of Bamboozled by love (could be here the tape flip?)
and during the band introduction at the end of Strictly Genteel.

   Frank Zappa

   08-Nov 1981, Forum de Montreal,
114.43 minutes, Aud, B-/C+ (my opinion, please will you confirm)

Sorry, but i dont have any technical informations. This is probably
not best than 2nd generation. Maybe 3rd.

Ray White on Guitar and Vocals
   Tommy Mars on Keyboards
   Scott tunes on Bass
   Chad Wackerman on Drums
   Ed mann on Percussions
Bobby Martin on Keyboards, Sax and Vocals
Steve Vai on Freddy Mercury ( That's the way Frank present Steve
   Vai that night ) ( ??? )

We had a great point of view cause we had our place on the players
bench without nobody in front of us. The sound was simply fantastic
   that night. A beauty !

   03 - Mudd Club
04 - The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing
   05 - Dumb All Over
   06 - Heavenly Bank Account
   07 - Suicide chump
   08 - Jumbo Go Away
09 - Envelopes ( I'm not totally sure of it , but my impression
is ... at 09 secondes the taper was sniffing something, pay
   attention. LOLLL ... Envelopes? )
   10 - Drowning Witch
11 - What's new in Baltimore (And at the end of this one, there was
something special... Zappa announced an intermission and after 34
seconds of delirious applause in the crowd, the band restarted a
short ( 83 secondes ) Easy Meat outro. Sounds like a first part
   Encores. ( ??!! ).
          Intermission
   12- Easy meat ( outro )
------------------------------------------ ( turn the CD on the "B"
   side, here! )
