I agree. Back in 1980 I could recommend lots of good ones for about $250.
Now it's best to just look on ebay for a good used direct drive unit. A new
magnetic cartridge is a lot more now too. This place is the best I know of
Then if you have a newer receiver without a phono input you need a phono
pre-amp for a regular line input.

I have the original Verve label vinyl of the first few albums....I'd have to
go and look at the albums to make sure. Problem is now, I don't have a
turntable worthy of playing my old vinyl. I would hate to ruin such a
treasure with a crappy system.
