Basically I agree with Manish, moving everything just to show that we're not dependant on gnome doesn't sound like a good idea. I guess we could reside on both names for a period of time and then drop the org.gnome.* one, but to use a freedesktop domain we'd need to have some official approval from freedesktop.org.
