New question #162578 on Zeitgeist Framework:
https://answers.launchpad.net/zeitgeist/+question/162578

I've been using a Ubuntu launchpad bug to track my problem
(https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+question/156829), but
thought it would be worth adding it here.

I installed the latest Zeitgeist (0.8) on to my up to date Ubuntu box, and
Unity broke. What happens is the the new application finder (what is the name
of that thing?), where you type in the name of the app you want and it lists
them all, no longer lists any files. In addition, the big icons (e.g. Media) do
nothing.

A fellow sufferer has had success with installing unity-place-applications and
unity-place-files to get functionality back. I have not had the chance to try
them yet.

I *think* these were uninstalled on my system when I used the Zeitgeist PPA.

So there appears to be a packaging issue under certain circumstances that
breaks Unity.

Thanks

James
