Greetings forum Zazen...a clear path, and no obstruction. Playing baseball in old Philippines in the countryside. Fun afternoon at dusk. Hold that bat, wait for the ball, and....strike..or duck? What to do? The path is clear. Zazen...a clear path, no obstruction..
The ball is coming. What did you do in zazen? Posture and breathing, very important In sports everywhere, it's not hard to see or hear obstruction. Males being males...well..a lot of chest-inflating and tounge-rattling goes on. It's a whole lot of extras that takes concentration(not to mention much-needed energy) away. Just hit/kick/throw the ball. Eyes/heart/mind/big mind/whatever fully open in zazen, and breath Posture and breath, just like putting bags in the car during 'evacuation' And then there's football(Australian), or rugby(wellll...same thing..). A VERY BIG guy called 'little tim' got angry. Very big...incredible. Talk, duck, run...kick the balls..which one?(Because one head-butt and you're down, Mel). Clear path, no obstruction...just like zazen.. Posture and breath, and make choices. How about a collision? Water ripples with the event when struck by a pebble. It sinks, and then bounces up again back to it's normal level BIG MIND self. Falling asleep on the zafu? Spring back again or another pebble...ahem....kyosaku might wake you...or make you ripple..just like water..(it tickles...for some..*laughter*..) in peace Mel ------------------------------------ Current Book Discussion: any Zen book that you recently have read or are reading!
