ED,

There are possibilities:

TNH does not believe Richard Baker is as bad as critiques say.
TNH believes so, but still insists that it is the 'future of Buddhism in the
West.

In the latter case, I would start setting up orgihouses attached to zen centers.

"A controversial figure, Richard Baker has been publicly criticized for his
behavior at San Francisco Zen Center. Former students have said that he was
addicted to power, abusive of his position, extravagant in his personal
spending, and inappropriate in his love life.
On the other hand, in the twenty-five years since leaving San Francisco Zen
Center, Baker has quietly continued his career as a Zen teacher, founding and
developing two major practice centers.
Thich Nhat Hanh wrote of Baker, "To me, he embodies very much the future of
Buddhism in the West with his creative intelligence and his aliveness."

Is TNH Thay 'right' about the future of Zen in America?
