No pain can't be alleviated or healed without resting. Resting doesn't comes
separated from Stopping and Practising.   The three big points go in
togetherness.  Each of them contains the other two. Promoting resting can be
difficult to be carried out when one is in pain.  Everything that can help the
release of pain  is valid for as long as that is made in awareness.  The breath
helps the knot of blocked energy to get dissolve and awareness helps at the
same time to follow the in and out coming air helping in that way the
unblocking,  , pumping of the heart, blood circulation, in general
the oxygenation of all the cells in the body.

Some people find helpful relaxation techniques to promote a good sleep.  One
can try what is the best for one.  Different people get relax with different
things.  There are the ones who get relax by lying down and leave the body
at its own recovery.  There are the ones who find themselves getting relax by
the hearing, smell, touching... of nature sounds..., Personally, I don't
discriminate against anything that can help me at a different moments and
degree of pain.  And once again because one has adopted as a second skin the
awareness of the in and out breathing, the breath  becomes one Venerable
Teacher. This Master is beyond duality or any Preconceived ideas.  No one will
tell one better here.

Depends upon  the degree of pain I rest in bed and that's it!.  There are
moments in bed in which I only stay fully present with my pain with no
distractions of any kind.  There are moments in which I choose to listen to
music that helps me to relax. There are moments in which I choose to watch a
movie that will promote something I lack of at those moments such as strenght,
courage, joy.... For instance it's not a good idea to choose reading a book or
watching a movie where there is blood, violence, aggression....as that will
tense more the body.
