No-Mind By Athos Antoniades Athos explains what is the 'No-Mind' state
and how it can be used in Martial Arts.
The Reptilian Brain is also the doorway to the subconscious, therefore
entering it will also take us into the Zen state of `No-Mind' or
`Wu-Wei' in Chinese.

The subconscious will then take over and direct the logical mind and
body and we could have mastered self. The state of No-Mind will enable
the body to move in an integrated and connected manner, maximising power
and speed and therefore greatly improving our fighting ability.

Most Martial Arts are not useful or effective in a realistic
self-defence or fight situation as they attempt to formalise fighting by
using the logical conceptual brain. Using logical pre-arranged
techniques instead of using the survival instinct of the Reptilian Brain
will never work as we cannot apply logic to an illogical situation and
fighting and self-defence are definitely illogical.

Logical pre-arranged techniques also deprive us of the ability to react
and adapt to what the attacker is doing to us, attempting instead to
apply our pre-arranged techniques to deal with an attack. This will
always prove to be futile in a real fight.

The only way to defeat any attacker would be to coordinate our energy
with his pre-empting and intercepting any attack. This effectively means
becoming `Masters of Adaptability'. We must eliminate thinking
and fight at a No-Mind subconscious reflex level. If we stop to think
chances are we will get hit.

We must therefore always adhere to the Zen concept of No-Mind where the
subconscious controls the logical brain and physical movement. Our
intention goes to the subconscious while the thoughts go to the logical
mind (ego). Therefore if our intention is to defeat any attack, the
subconscious will react in a state of No-Mind and direct our energy
(Chi) which will in turn direct our physical movements to always do the
right thing and we can deal with any attack with maximum aggression,
power, speed, and perfect timing. Just like a wild animal doing whatever
it needs to survive at a No-Mind level."
