Merle,
Quite right, awful food, if you call that food. ;-)
The guitarist really must value his anonymity, that is the reason for the
disguise. He has already been a star, with a big American rock group, and has
had it up to "here" with all that public recognition (up to his bucket, I
think).
Notice what he wrote on the KFC bucket, which he wears on his head: the word,
"FUNERAL". He says that he did this in memory of all the chickens who have
lost their lives to make Colonel Sanders' Kentucky Fried Chicken. So,
Buckethead is sticking-up for sentient beings.
And he is simultaneously adding to his own whacky testimony that he grew up on
a chicken farm, was raised by chickens in a chicken coop, and has had
encounters with aliens. I take it all with a grain of mashed potato, gravy,
corn-bread, and coleslaw. The chicken is fried in hydrogenated grease,
trans-fat, and I will not touch THAT. ;-)
I think Buckethead is a Vegan. Very, very Californian. Not a bad guy, after
all, eh?
To see him without a disguise, Google "Jim Carroll, guitar". But he was
younger, then. See the many Buckethead videos on YouTube if you want the
music. Impressive skill and interesting original tracks, but surely the most
whacky showcasing of it I've seen in a long time, maybe since "Tiny Tim" with
his Ukelele.
"Buckethead" is a good martial artist, and may have had experience with
something close to zen practice, I dunno.
He may have taken a "vow of silence"; never talks. Nor sings.
I may change my dharma-name to "Buckethead", it is humbling. Nah.
