On second thoughts, there is no such mind. I feel I should be maximally kind
(but yet not to speak too plainly).
Zen masters who wag tongues and gesticulate bodies do so from no-mind: that is,
no mind at all. If there is a sense that there is any mind, then, in a zen
teacher's book, that is delusion. Back to work. To the Chan Hall with you.
To be at one-mind is good; but, for Chan, there is more housekeeping to do.
Most of it is yet to be done.
No shame. We all go through it. This is what Zen teachers are FOR.
YOU do not get to decide when the distillation is through, with you.
That's what you put faith in your shifu for, and in the methods you practice,
and in yourself (for being able to be true to your resolve).
If there is any distillate remaining, you are all wet. You must be dry, my
friend. All vapors totally driven off. When dryness occurs, it is realized in
an INSTANT. And the Assembly welcomes and congratulates you.
To sum up: It's not that mind does not MOVE. It's that there is NO mind, and
never was mind. This is called Zen mind. I call it Chan.
If this is what you are out for, accept no substitute.
