Merle,
I'm glad the Science they taught me was the straight and true timber.
It wasn't enough for a real enthusiast though, with the bit between his teeth,
and I had to go outside (to the Library, and by bus to bookstores 30 miles away
in NYC), and to experimentation and observation for myself, for more.
I became self-taught, that way, to supplement the general basics they taught in
school. A good mix for me. Not for you?
Ultimately, we have to do our own research, and work on methods for ourselves.
If we say we were brain-washed, well, then, maybe we were.
My shihfu would say that "we should prostrate to" those teachers of ours. Or
to anyone who ever gave/gives us a hard time.
Yes, of course we are of like mind, Merle (the "zen-guy" said). ;-)
