  you might just die  while you sit waiting..so it will be all in vain if you
follow that recipe for "enlightenment"
 grasp all whilst you are able
 understanding is just a  nano second away
 catch it before it disappears
 and you are left wondering

An 8-year old can understand it, but even an 80-year old cannot do it.

Or, something like that. A nice saying.

What you propose is not easy, Merle -- If it's do be done actually.

People used to give their LIVES for the opportunity. Three days sitting alone
in the elements outside zen monasteries without food for the chance to come in
to sit in an ante-room or pantry another three days, before being allowed to
enter the Zen Hall with the assembly of monks to sit.

Maybe in a year, they would be allowed to see and be beaten by the teacher;
maybe not.

Because it is simple, it is very, very hard. No one knows how to do it, or is
prepared physically. There's a lot to break down or break up. This is where
Purification comes in.  It's physical.

Simple one pointedness of mind was all that it takes.
