Shall we return to Chan --- ONE and ALL (Xinxinming)?
ALL is all the forms manifested -- the infinite universe including our
languages, concepts, etc. ONE is the natural energy that manifest the
ALL with a set of characteristics, some labels it as Buddha nature. ONE
also means whole, complete, integrated.
If we are in sync with the ONE, we are in sync with nature. And from
energy point of view, all forms are impermanent and all can be labeled
as illusory, or empty by nature. This is Chan-speaking trying to wake
us up from our own forms.
If we purely stay in a single moment using our senses, all forms exists,
real, touchable, and each exists from some cause. Otherwise, it can not
exist. This is human speaking trying to survive.
All speakings are necessary for all of us. There is no need to
discriminate. Chan is ALL. No need to discriminate Chan from this
talki or that logic. They ALL are. It is our ego prevents us from
realizing the ALL. Xinxinming begins by saying, no pick or choose...
The key is to live a liberated life, a fulfill life with meaning, or in
Chan-speaking, a life in sync with Buddha nature.
The label of Buddha also mean the whole, the complete, the ALL -- all
views, all phenomena, all sentient beings, all concepts, etc. If we
focus and accept only partially on any of it, then we become incomplete
and therefore not Buddha.
Most importantly Buddha nature is not a sensory state of being. It is
just a set of characteristics of the universe. To live a liberated
life, we need to maintain our synchronicity with Buddha nature all
moments and act without resistance, then we are in harmony with the
infinite. All resistance or differentiation is a sign of ego.
Like all words, mine are also empty by nature.
