Goody gumdrops bill.... finally...harmony...merle

Merle,

Thanks! This was an interesting article and it did refer to 'third eye' twice.
Once "...Zen . . . wants us to open a "third eye," as the Buddhists call
it..." and then again "... in satori (the name given to the opening or
awakening of the "third eye")...".

This is a good piece of cyber-detective work.

Now, I repeat once again that although I have certainly heard of the term
'third eye' I have never before this heard or seen it used in association with
Buddhism or zen. I associate it primarily with Hinduism and Yoga where it is
believed to be the 6th of 7 'chakras'.

My reading of this article leads me to believe the way the author is using the
term 'third eye' is virtually identical to the way most zen literature uses
(and I use) the term 'Buddha Nature' or 'Buddha Mind'. So the 'opening of the
'third eye'' might be synonymous with discovering or uncovering or realizing or
manifesting 'Buddha Nature'.

So NOW we can have a nice, stress-free chat all we want to about this subject.
It seems to be another one of those 'you say po-tay-toe and I say po-tah-toe'
things and not an argument at all.

...Bill!
