Bill,

Yessiree! I'm an insular ingrate: insufficiently grateful for all the
innovations I helped to invent.

But I worked on hardware. Not the silly ice-skater stuff on top of our fine
inventions.

My graduate work was in new methods for micro-lithographic techniques in
micro-electronics. How I loved it.

This has nothing to do with Facebook, unless you note that all our computers
rely more and more on smaller and smaller design-rules of CPUs and memory.
Maybe you don't follow detailed industry trends.

We wrote our chips with e-beam technology, and passed them on for lithographic
reproduction. Old-hat, by now. But we were some of the first, providing stuff
for Star-Wars. I was paid $10,000.00 US, per annum stipend, in mid-1980s US
dollars, as a grad student, to invent this stuff. I think I did a good job. I
had fun; and I learned to do all my own precision machining in the Machine Shop
in the Physics Dept., and now I run my own Wood Lathe at home to make things
for Buddhist temples and teachers and practice centers around the world, and
then some. I won't say (here) which other Planets.

I'm still un-impressed with the Harvard Facebook stuff; I am a Columbian.
Columbia is a real university. In a real City. Zuckerberg remains a wimp, in
my eyes. Oh, well. Not to laud him.

May the Dharma keep us, no matter Who,

We Bodhisattvas hint and clue here and there,

Cheers.
