It's a good answer.

People who talk about Zen -- say, Zen teachers -- are always answering the same 
questions again and again.

And the zen literature gets bigger and bigger every year because each 
generation must say in its own way and in its own words, "Zen is a transmission 
of mind outside the teachings, not dependent on words and letters."

Well, so goes the 'transmission' of it: everything else can as well be played 
with, using words.  Even "dharma-combat" is considered a venerable practice of 
ours.

Maybe you'll tell us what Bill! asks, perhaps this time using different words, 
entirely.  That can be a good practice, too.  Just a thought... .

At least, the serious questions, anyway!  Dunno about opposable  thumbs' effect 
on realizing Buddhahood.  Funny.  Nor the echo-locating bats doing zazen as 
they hang from cave ceilings.  ;-)
