Suresh,
I hope Deepavali was good for you this year.
I remember it very fondly when I lived in New York City. I had some close
Indian friends, but there was also a big festival held in Central Park, and of
course lots of very good food, there, and THOUSANDS of people.
Hundreds of people flew India Fighter Kites in Sheep Meadow of Central Park,
and competed. The spectacle was always very impressive when the weather was
good.
Lots of classical Indian music was also performed around the City during the
holiday. By the way, people I know also called it "Divali". Maybe that's just
a short version of the name? Other friends had a different pronunciation, and
called it "Dee-paw-VAL-i".
I miss the food, the kites, the music, and the good times.
I hope you had all of that, and more, with your family!
