Merle,

You may know that in Zen practice, there is the possibility of an awakening.
This is *THE* entry into a lifetime of practice, "just" a gate.

But it is a gate that many miss entering. Thus, when they utter things "about"
Zen, or about practice, they mislead.

The best we can do for such people is to urge them to practice.

Failing their practicing, the best we can do is to cast their utterances into
doubt for all, because they speak about shadows, not of light (or emptiness,
and freedom and ease).

We all "have" the small mind, and the original mind. People who have not
awakened to the original mind -- and sloughed-off the crust of the small mind
-- should not speak about the original mind. When they do so, again, they
mislead, and speak about shadows.

To answer your question *any* more directly would be too embarrassing.
