Merle,
A strong design idea struck today for a "Music of the Spheres" painting, and I
am off and running. A good planning sketch materialized in my outdoor studio
in the Arizona sun this morning, as I worked on my tan simul-tan-eously. ;-)
I'm not used to this procedure because I have never made a "concept-" painting,
before. So far, many have been naturalistic, and landscapes, etudes,
finger-exercises for me, and always began directly on the canvas in oils with
never a sketch. This new painting is a different kettle of fish!
I think this one will be all Acrylics, not my usual medium: it will use basic
colors, and I think Acrylics will do that best. Usually I am shy of acrylics
because of the extraordinarily short drying time of water-based paint here in
the desert, but I have become a good shot with the spray bottle; and, I know
enough now to use "Open" acrylic paints by good makers, like "Golden". Now I
don't have to be Speedy Gonzalez.
But the painting won't take long! Pretty simple, and ready to pour out of me.
You have my encouragement for your own painting, which we conferred on here.
Best wishes. Happy painting!
