Dude just sit for a while and observe the dark side of humanity boiling up
inside yourself.

Perhaps I am atypically angry but I have certainly got angry impulses in
myself - times when my system wants others to be sorry, to regret, to
suffer for ignoring me.
Dear Suresh,

Thanks for considering to tailor your posts to the topics of interest on
this specialized group. It helps us all, I think. When we visit this
group, our ears and eyes are keen to find topics that bring us here and
bring us together, around the topic(s) of Zen.

Of course, there is a lot of latitude and diversity in what comes under the
aegis of "Zen", and Zen practice, and Zen tradition. But I think that it
is always best to compose posts for this (or any other) specific group, and
not to cut and paste from others to here.

Now, as to your question, really, I am not a psychological specialist, so I
cannot say with any expertise what might impel people to act violently and
in a deadly way, during Peacetime, when those people are not soldiers in
War.

But let me say that the reason you seek probably accords with the
observation of the Buddha; thus, that such behavior is probably a result of
The Three Poisons: Ignorance; Hatred; and, Greed.

Those poisons act and interact in varying ways with people of different
karma, and I think it is possible to engender almost any behavior
whatsoever given specific causes and conditions. The variables are too
numerous to classify. Tensions and irrationality and un-naturalness are
also accentuated and made more severe in large cities.

Let us hope that the year 2013 brings better behavior everywhere.

With best wishes!,
