Merle,
Even the Peaceniks are not awakened... unless they are awakened.
And, Introvert... Extrovert... it makes no difference about "personality
types", either. Personality is the most pernicious and limiting illusion.
It all comes down to the "I", Merle.
If there is an "I", awakening is needed (because it is lacking; and you may
quote, err-r, Me).
Our Zen practice, when it leads to awakening, is not "therapy". It is a most
radical business. THE most radical (You'd love it).
It is killing the false mind and throwing away life.
Thence to regain everything that is Original.
It is the loss of all sophistication and the recouping of our full inheritance.
I can't recommend it enough, for rebels and happy misfits. But don't say I
didn't warn you. Subhana can direct you most competently and civilly, I am
sure; she is a diamond you have there. And so are you.
--Joe
PS Our Zen practice is not a sweetness-and-light affair. It seems to suit
best those who have a certain maturity, and those who may be dissatisfied in
life by failures and by successes. Such folk, like Shakyamuni Buddha, may feel
they just need to wake up more fully. Zen practice can promise a FULL waking
up; and I can testify to the claims and promises. I am not the best exemplar,
but I never shut up about it, do I? There must be something THERE, Merle. ;-)
