Welcome to the group.

I am one who also believes zen is not just a sub-set or sect of Buddhism,  and 
is not dependent upon Buddhism in any way.  I do believe however that the 
Buddhist religion does represent zen better than any other I've encountered.

I hope you'll enjoy your membership and be a frequent contributor.
