Dear Sir, Q:“but lesser mortals than Buddha have to go through the life's challenges ,responsibilities and demands to arrive at the need for self-realization”
A: As I already mention that self-realization need not to be life’s ultimate goal. The brain made self cannot know what self-realization is, and hence all its effort will go in futile. This is my personnel experience from my child hood that whatever I think, the opposite of it will happen. Each and every time god proves that whatever brain thinks will not happen, so that one drops thinking, but we continue to think. But a few times it may appear that whatever I thought it might have happened. For example recently on one of the marriage function, I saw my niece and wanted to talk to her. But she paid no attention to me even though I was close to her. Then I totally forget this thought. But before I leave after completing my food, she came directly to me and talked to me for several minutes. I was surprised how did it happen? Similarly on this Saturday, I went to Pamban swamigal temple in Thiruvanmiyur. (This temple I visit every Saturday). One peacock was fully opened its feathers (standing close to extreme compound wall), but I was seeing backside of the peacock. But even then I called my children to show this peacock. And wished it turned to face me, but least expected it should happen. But within few minutes with dancing it turned towards me and showing a good dance for more than 5 minutes. I was totally surprised.(and took lot of photographs). In above two incidents also what mind thought internally (not to happen) did not happen, the opposite was happen to show stop thinking. So a brain aspires for self-realization is utter stupidity. Even that brain chants god’s name, let read all holy books, let do all dharma all will go in vain. Now for example, I may love reading holy books and writing philosophy, but if I don’t do my work in the office which is expected of me and similarly what is expected at home is not performed by me, then whatever I do towards self-realization nothing fruitful happen in that direction. Hence do your duty and don’t expect results is great statement. So forget self-realization and do your current duty sincerely. This is what you are supposed to do as per god, instead if you do something else, god will give punishment only and no rewards. If you are destined to be a family man, be proud to be family man, do your duty of supplying food to those monks who aspire self-realization. This is even told by Ramana Maharishi. He never allows any person destined to cook in kitchen to come and do meditation in the hall. He will get angry if those leave cooking job and come for meditation. He used to say “Do the job with full attention with love for that work which is meditation, you will realize god even through that job.” Best wishes Suresh ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Sukumaran Thampi <[email protected]> Date: Mon, 11 Mar 2013 15:34:10 +0800 (SGT) Subject: Re: Is it not time to stop this ? ANSWER To: SURESH JAGADEESAN <[email protected]> Dear Sir, Once again, thank you for the detailed and apt response. I have now taken your help to clarify some of my misgivings. Is it not one of the ways to learn from others? So when the suggestion comes that one has to know only through one's own efforts without the aid or help of someone better informed, it appears impractical for many.As you rightly pointed out a Himalaya or a Budha may manifest by process of nature, but lesser mortals than Budha have to go through the life's challenges ,responsibilities and demands to arrive at the need for selfrealisation.During that journey signposts and light are extremely useful to many. As suggested by you ,I 'll ceratainly try to follow Bhagwat Gita and Ramana's teachings to get rid of the problem of "I". You are free to use the communucations between us for other's information. With warm regards, Sukumaran Thampi. ------------------------------------ Current Book Discussion: any Zen book that you recently have read or are reading! Talk about it today!Yahoo!
