Nope, not binoculars.  You're not viewing from a distance.

No, I suggest(ed) a wide-field magnifier.

You said a microscope, earlier.  I said that has too narrow a view.

Just try a wide-field reading lens.  Like Sherlock Holmes used, but maybe 
rectangular in shape these days, with a handle.  I use them (in some 
field-studies of soil, minerals, gems, coins, etc.).

Save the binoculars for the stars, and for that comet in the West near the end 
of evening twilight, "PAN-Starrs" (it looks great from here).

Bill!'s humor was really quite good, and he made a serious point at the same 
time.  You were not a victim, but a helping-agent.  I salute both Bill! and 
you!, together making the point that ascribing "Rationalist" is really 
name-calling, in our field.  Should be on the FCC's list of "seven dirty 
words",  ...as word number Eight.
