Merle,

I'm happy to see you haven't left us - it would be a lot
less colourful here if you had!

Ok. I'm confused. Are you saying, for
example, that a passion for and connection to our planet can only be felt if
you *have* (as in a noun) a soul? Or are you saying 'soul' is just an adjective
to describe this passion/connection? I feel this connection because I *am* this
planet (in fact, I am the totality of everything). There is nothing separate in
this universe. It's just a seamless whole. The difficulty I have with 'soul' is
that it is usually understood as something apart from us. Could it be that
we're talking about the same thing, but you're using the word (as Edgar meant
it) as a kind of shorthand for Big Mind/Zen Mind? I hope so, because I think
that puts you firmly on the path of dropping body and mind (self) and
experiencing Buddha Nature where there is no self, no path, no Zen, no Merle,
no God. And no soul.
