Merle, Am I joking? Am I currently building an altar for sacrificing virgins to RAF? You decide! Mike Sent from Yahoo! Not just any old knowledge, mind you, but specifically evolutionary psychology and genetic science (I thank Edgar and RAF for correcting almost 2,000 years of bad Zen). If Bob doesn't incorporate these two streams of science into his practice then I'm afraid you'll never reach the attainments of Edgar and RAF. Hope this is clearer now? All bow down to RAF the Wise and Merciful!! Mike Sent from Yahoo! He mentions nothing about evolutionary psychology or genetic science and even said Zen helps to drop things (instead of add layers). He's definitely no RAF. Mike Sent from Yahoo! I am renting in Bilpin whilst we build on 4.5 acres in the Slopes. I have been interested in these foolish issues for about 25 years, studying Zen for the last 15 years. I have been thinking about starting a small meditation group and although there are sometimes only 2 of us meditating, it feels wonderful and it keeps me away from my ego for a while. My particular Zen experiences started with a 'ring' of truth and understanding after reading the Platform Sutra of Hui Neng. He cut through so much and spoke like a true man and fitted me Meditation is just a loose vehicle that takes you nowhere, but takes away much. Eventually breakthroughs come uninvited, some come in grace and some via hard work. As the old saying goes 'If you look for it is it not there, If you don't look for it you will never find it'. Please send me the link to the Zen forum and I will look at the site. The finest of peace and comfort to you and Barry. Bob PS please tell me more about your Zen experiences?
