Great pics, Merle.
Thank you!
I'll use some of these as "reference material" for paintings.
BTW, our Mount Wilson here in the States is in California, and is famous for
the observatory there, and especially for the 100-inch "Hooker" reflecting
telescope that Edwin Hubble used to record the redshifts of galaxies and to
determine by interpretation of an overview of the systematics of that material
that the universe may be expanding. Mt. Wilson was also the site of
devastating wildfires (bushfires) a few years ago that did NOT destroy the
observatory, and it was saved only by heroic work of firefighters.
Mount Wilson no longer does "much" front-line Astronomy because it's too near
the lights of Los Angeles and Pasadena. But it's still active and
contributing! Finding planets of other stars spectroscopically, for example.
Geoff Marcy is a frequent user.
Your Mt. Wilson is very colorful this Autumn, there! Looks like a great
day-trip. Cheers!
Thanks again,
--Joe
PS I viewed the pics in your private mailing to me (at the website, they are
blank).
