BTW, you may have read other "Ch'an" texts:
For example, if you've read THE RECORD OF LIN CHI (the LIN CHI LU), you've read
a Ch'an text. The "records" of all the masters of the Golden Age of Ch'an are
of course "Ch'an" texts.
THE PLATFORM SUTRA OF THE SIXTH PATRIARCH is a Ch'an text.
Likewise, Seng Ts'an's FAITH IN MIND; and, Yung Chia's SOMG OF ENLIGHTENMENT.
Wu-Men's k'ung-an collection, WU-MEN KUAN is also a Chan text. So is THE BLUE
CLIFF RECORD. And THE BOOK OF SERENITY. "Etc."
It's just an historical accident in the West that D.T. Suzuki popularized Ch'an
as Zen. Ch'an is simply Zen, and vice versa. There are minor cultural nuances
in ways of practicing it, depending in which country it finds itself. And in
the West, new nuances are evidently beginning to be bred. And they are only
nuances, if the teachers are true, and good.
