Dear Joe, can you comment on my below post to know how much I am correct.
Brgds Suresh Dear Sirs, “That there is no path is true because what is the path between you and yourself” “Self is not different from self-realization. Self is self. If I don't know what that self is, how am I going to come across myself? I am what I am. If I don't know what I am, how am I going to suddenly recognize myself?” As a common man, my question is why one should aspire for “self-realization”? Self-realization was defined by these gurus/swmaiji that it is a state of bliss with no conflict of mind or one mindedness or No mind ( as per Buddha) Now as a common man ‘I’ as of now not one minded or no mind, and hence no bliss. So ‘I’ the broken mindedness like to see myself as one mindedness or no mind. That is from many to one. Is it not implies travel or movement? From one state to another state? From the state of conflict to the state of bliss. If I am told I am already ‘self’ a blissful state, then why it was not felt now? As per Ramana ‘self is all’ it means ‘self is universe/Brahman or god’ and what is god for common man? God means to any common man is all powerful, all blissful Does a common man feel all powerful does common man feel blissful all the time? Even if one considers like self is hidden by maya like sun is hidden by clouds. Here again sun to shine, the clouds to move or disperse. “If I don't know what I am, how am I going to suddenly recognize myself?” Here myself means the ‘self’ which is ever blissful state. For a common man, me and myself means body and its knowledge + experience. So for a common man his recognition as self is body and its knowledge and experience accumulated, which as of now not in blissful state. Common man is not recognized himself as blissful state. So all this implies movement. I am poor and want to become rich, requires movement, path. Gurus / swamijis are good in talking something cannot be understandable, thus claim superiority. “An accident is an incident, the cause of which you don't know. That's called an accident.” Experts in the field of injury prevention avoid use of the term 'accident' to describe events that cause injury in an attempt to highlight the predictable and preventable nature of most injuries. Such incidents are viewed from the perspective of epidemiology as predictable and preventable. Preferred words are more descriptive of the event itself, rather than of its unintended nature (e.g., collision, drowning, fall, etc.) Accidents of particularly common types (crashing of automobiles, events causing fire, etc.) are investigated to identify how to avoid them in the future. This is sometimes called root cause analysis,. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS Have you ever wondered what you can do to prevent accidents? Maybe, like many people, you believe accidents are bound to happen and there's not much you can do about them. Or, you may think that they only happen to the other person. Well, the truth is that accidents do happen to everyone and often can be prevented. SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT Here's something to think about. Statistics show that in many cases an accident could have been prevented by the victim. And, in other cases, by a co-worker. Think of accidents that happened to people you know. Usually it was a stupid mistake. Right? In other words, that person or someone else working on the job could have prevented it. SEVEN EXCELLENT SUGGESTIONS Here are seven ways you, personally, can do something about preventing accidents: 1. Make accident prevention a part of your daily routine: Plan safety in advance. Before beginning a job, be sure your tools are in good condition. Also, see that you have the required protective equipment. 2. Report unsafe acts or conditions to your supervisor: If you see something that's dangerous or someone working in an unsafe way, do something about it. If it's an unsafe condition, correct it if you can. Otherwise, report it to someone who has the authority or ability to do so. If you see someone committing an unsafe act, warn that person in a friendly way. 3. Avoid horseplay: Aren't you always telling your kids to knock off fooling around before someone gets hurt? Well, horse- play is dangerous for kids of any age. On a construction job you can easily be injured if you're not strictly business all of the time. Often a person is killed or hurt when a "harmless" prank or a practical joke backfires. 4. Follow instructions: You'd follow instructions if you were dismantling a time bomb - and very carefully at that. Well, take the same attitude on the job. When we give you instructions, it's only after we've considered the safest and best way to do it. Sometimes doing something just a little different from what you were told can get you or someone else in a lot of trouble. 5. Make suggestions: If you see a quicker or a better way to do something, let us know. We'll check it out and if it's practical, we'll use it. But first we'll make sure it's safe. And if you see a safer way of doing some-thing, bring it to our attention, by all means. 6. Practice good housekeeping: Nobody likes a slob .its upsetting to see someone with a messy work area. And it goes even further than that. A sloppy work area is not only hard on the eyes, but a breeding ground for accidents. Trash and materials strewn around can result in trips, falls, and fires. 7. Dress for the job: In addition to wearing protective equipment, dress so that you won't get hurt. Don't wear floppy clothing (such as loose sleeves or cuffs) or jewelry that can catch on something or become entangled in machinery. “self is an accident – self-realization is an accident. This is a silly thing.” It may be appropriate to say that the sun (take it for ‘self’) keep seeing only clouds & earth and get identified with clouds and earth. What it has to do to realize his own nature as sun? Nothing? When clouds disperse or the cloud is so dark in that sun sees its reflection, and when that clouds suddenly disperse like rain, No sun (reflection) No water, suddenly sun realizes its nature back. So self-realization is an accident is appropriate to state not a silly thing. Best wishes Suresh ============================================================= Following is part of an interview with Sw Dayayanda Saraswatiji, published on 'Nonduality' magazine http://www.nondualitymagazine.org/nonduality_magazine.6.swamidayanandasaraswati.\ htm ---------------------------- NDM: What are your thoughts on contemporary advaita teachers who say that self-realization is an accident, it happens for no reason, that there is no path, method, or means to do this, that all of these things only reinforce the seeker? Swamiji: I cannot be an accident. If self is myself, I'm not going to be an accident or incident or an event. I am already there. Why they should say an accident? That's a wrong thing to do. An accident is an incident, the cause of which you don't know. That's called an accident. It's an incident. If you are not able to figure out the causes of the incident, then you are constrained to call it an accident. Otherwise it's not an accident. It's an incident in time and space. If there is a road accident a cop comes there, and then he has to find out who is the cause for this accident. Then he begins to search for the cause. Then when he finds the causes, the accident reduces itself into an incident. These are the reasons this happened. Therefore it's a cause effect relationship. Somebody is punished and somebody gets all the benefit. And therefore, there are no accidents at all in life. And the worst thing is, self is an accident – self-realization is an accident. This is a silly thing. Self is not different from self-realization. Self is self. If I don't know what that self is, how am I going to come across myself? I am what I am. If I don't know what I am, how am I going to suddenly recognize myself? I cannot come across myself accidentally. If I am ignorant of myself and I commit a mistake about myself, to correct that mistake I have no clue. And therefore in life, you may accidentally – it means without expectation – come across something. A lot of discoveries are just made without any planning. Penicillin was discovered by that man not with a deliberate search for penicillin. He was doing some research on some bacteria, and he was growing this bacteria for his research, and he found all of them were dead. Then he tried to find out why they were dead and he found a formation of fungus. Being a scientist he thought, `Is this fungus the reason for their death?' Then he picked up this fungus and put it in another strain. That also died. The whole strain of the bacteria died. Penicillin was discovered and the quality of human life was never the same afterwards. We didn't have anything for infection until then. Now they can do transplantation of organs, they can do all these orthopedic surgeries and all that because of the discovery of penicillin. Then afterwards they went on and on and discovered more derivatives. It's never been the same. One discovery – by accident. Therefore, you can stumble upon something that you don't know, and you may come to know, but you cannot stumble upon yourself when you are ignorant of yourself. No way. No way.
