lol -- ask for help, and get silence. Say something incorrect, and seven
coalminers will crawl down your throat!

I think the Zenforum site you joined has a slew of documents in its main page
that would be a good place to start. Personally, I read "Meditation for
Dummies" long before joining this site. It isn't necessarily Zen, but covers a
wide enough range to get the beginner started, no matter your motivation... I
bet there's many better sources. One thing they all say, is to get a real-life
instructor (even the Dummies book emphasizes this over and over).

Ironically, there's only a page or so about how to do it. Sit down, relax, let
your thoughts go, and count your breaths from 1 to 10. Repeat. Presto!
You're meditating!

How to meditate best? This is one of the few things that is better to stick at
least a toe in the water (if you can't brave a canonball dive) rather than
asking others how cold the water is... Ask the kids in the water "Is it better
to wade in, or jump?" "They'll just tell you its not cold after you get in --
hurry up and get in the pool already you big 'fraidy cat."

I'd recommend you just start -- and if you have questions, ask them here.
(Then duck :)

My best,

Rod
