That is the truth about the Dalai Lama. Your comparing him to the Pope is
very accurate. That is about what he has become. Just because this is a Zen
group does not mean everyone has to have their face wedged into the crack of
the Lama. Where is he during a major tragedy that primarily affects his area
of the world??

Where are his millions?? Sandra Bullock, an actress donated $1M. The winner
of the Formula 1 races (Shumacher?) donated $10M. These people are not
shielded from Taxes because they are Religious Teachers (like the Dalai
Lama), so in effect, they had to pay 50% or more on taxes before they could
even donate that money. Thus, Schumacher had to earn at least $15M, so that
after taxes he had $10M which he is donating. The Dalai Lama on the other
hand gets all his money tax-free, and yet he is conspicously absent from the
Tsunami Relief Effort.

Studying Zen should never mean that you become some mealy-mouthed
butt-kisser.

If you like the Dalai Lama or the Pope's writings, that should not keep you
from seeing the rest of their activities in a clear light. Both of them have
done many good things, and both are far from perfect. The history of
"Religious Leaders" is filled with people who have been corrupted by money,
power, politics, luxury, sex, drugs, pedophilia, etc.
